HOW WILL THE WINNERS BE SELECTED?
We will select the winners for the available spots using a rubric that is unique to all calls for applications and evaluates your grade point average from past semesters and extracurricular activities, such as:
- University extracurricular activities in which you participated for at least one full semester: choir, dance, university teams (soccer, swimming, volleyball, etc.), student representative, co-government, courses and conferences that do not carry academic credit, etc.
- Extracurricular activities outside of college, such as: work experience, volunteering, sports, music, art, languages other than English (we also count English, but we already see it in the system), etc.
When preparing your extracurricular activity certificates, please keep the following in mind:
- Activities that carry academic credit, such as internships or networking, do not count as extracurricular activities! Please do not send us transcripts for these activities. We also do not require letters of recommendation that do not attest to any extracurricular activity (which merely state they know you).
- We only consider activities you've completed since entering university; we don't accept those from high school. The exception is language certificates: if you have a German, French, or other language proficiency certificate received during high school, you can submit it.
- For the selection process, we only consider extracurricular activities for which you send us a certificate, or, failing that, a letter from the teacher or person in charge of the activity. If you mention an activity on your CV but do not attach any evidence, it will not count toward your score.
- If you are processing evidence of ExperiencePlease ask them to indicate whether it was paid or volunteer work; as mentioned above, it doesn't count if it was a pre-professional internship.
- If you are processing evidence of volunteer jobs., please ask them to indicate how long you were doing it.
